Va fi amintit pentru devotamentul său pentru islam şi inovaţia adusă ca unul dintre cei mai dotaţi MC din toate timpurile. Vă rugăm să-i respectaţi familia pe perioada doliului.”

Malik B a apărut pe primele patru albume studio ale The Roots: ‘Organix’ (1993), ‘Do You Want More?!!!??!’ (1995), ‘Illadelph Halflife’ (1996), şi ‘Things Fall Apart’ (1999). El a părăsit trupa în 1999 pentru a urma o carieră solo.
Cel mai cunoscut hit al celor de la The Roots este „You Got Me”.
